My brother has a 2 year old boxer. He fed her leftover turkey yesterday, after eating it she got really sick! She has the signs of parvo, vomiting, dirreha, lethargic! He took her to the vet yesterday and was told she had food poisining! She was given a shot, then sent home, he was told to force water on her. Today, she was worse so he took her back to the vet. She was there about 8 hrs, they gave her a shot every 2 hours, she still isn’t better. Now they are saying that she was allergic to the seratonin in the turkey? They also said she has been given all the meds they can give her and she can be euthinized or left to die! He is bringing her home, he was told that he could continue the meds at home, they just can’t give anymore? The whole thing sounds fishy to me! Does anyone know more about this or anything he can do for her? He can’t afford a second opinion! I’ve told him to force pedialite on her and pray! That’s all I know! Thanks, Kim

My dog gets “severe” allergies this time of the year. She licks, scratches and chews her skin, 24/7 if she could. We are constantly reminding her, to stop it.

She has open wounds, that usually get infected, usually this time of the year.

Any suggestions?
We have taken her to the vet, and she is on Allergy shots and takes predizone (only if an outbreak is severe)

It probably is due to seasonal, pollens, all the triggers of the warmer weather.

I am aware of that, and we are doing everything we possibly can, atleast we think so.

I just wanted to know, if there is anything that will slow down on her licking, scratching, and chewing on herself.

I’m not asking for philosophical guessing. This might be a question for those who have more knowledge of veternary science, comparative anatomy or maybe anthropology. From what I know about animals, they don’t have food allergies but most have much narrower diets. Are food allergies a product of something different about our immune system? Do other animals have no eosinophylls in their blood?
