I thought it must be the red dye but several other drinks/foods contain it and my son has no problems. After comparing ingredients, ester gum and glycerol gum appear in both. Have you ever heard of an allergy to either? What actually makes the “punchy” taste in these drinks?

If an allergy test came back negative, does that mean I can stop taking antihistamines?

I’ve been taking Singulair every night since getting allergy-like symptoms, so since the symptoms are gone and it isn’t an allergy, can I stop taking the pills?

Some Girl asked:

I grew up in Kentucky… and every spring it would rain and I would be up all night coughing and wheezing. I moved to Japan and had no allergies for over 3 years.

Then I moved to Texas and had a different kind of allergic response. It was more the itchy eyes and sneezing… but when I would run, it felt like I had asthma.

I now live in Utah and last summer was miserable! Same symptoms as I had in Texas. The winter has been wonderful without allergies.

Is there something I should start taking now to prevent allergies this spring/summer? And what should I take?

I have very bad allergies which make me sneeze a lot and give me itchy wattery eyes. I feel like I have to sneeze constantly and it’s making my throat sore. My doctor says that it is not safe to use allergy medication other than flonase, which seens to make it worse for me. Is there something else I can do?

Texas Chick asked:

It all started on our trip where my toddler and our dog were confined together in a small car. Now everytime she enters his room she breaks out in horrible hives and her face swells pretty bad. I had to take her in several times now for epi-shots and she’s on Benadryl plus Orapred.

The rash goes away after we leave the house and spend time somewhere else. It’s not our home though that makes her sick because she has the same problem in other buildings too.

I still nurse her and thought it’s my diet but I cut out possible culprit foods and nothing helped.

Her hives start around her eyes and arm pits. From there it spreads to her chest, trunk, back and neck.
After a while her upper lip gets really thick. So weird.

We’re waiting for the allergy blood tests to come back.
Oh and it’s not the detergent (I think so). We also don’t give her any fragranced stuff or colored candy.

Am I alone with this?
