My boyfriend is allergic to dogs and cats but I have a beautiful big dog (yellow lab mix) who I love to death. My bf currently takes Allegra for his allergies and it helps;he doesn’t have much of a reaction usually but I am wondering if there is a better medication specifically for indoor/pet allergies. He has tried Benadryll and Clartin; both do not work as well and cause him to become sleepy.
Thanks for the info so far; I should mention that because of his allergy to dogs, my bf doesn’t really like them at all whicxh upsets me sometimes. While he doesn’t hate them, he could care less about them, so he wouldn’t be a candidate for the shots but maybe a pill, especailly one that you can use situational.

As a youngster i used to have cats all the time..now my eyes bulge out if i touch one and happen to touch my face or eyes..same with anyone who has a dog..they touch the dog and i get hugged or close to them and i start wheezing and my chest becomes tight. I’ve had my last allergist tell my my asthma and allergies are not bad..i have allergies to dust mites, roaches also. I had all kinds of inhalers and then they started giving me prednisone/steroids and everything raises my high blood pressure. don’t know what to do anymore i think i will be the next woman who should live in a bubble. help, help.

I’m moving in with a friend who is pretty allergic to cats and dogs. I’m wondering if rats will be too bad for her allergies. She says she doesn’t mind if she’s a little allergic because they will stay in my room (not like a cat/dog that would roam) Does anyone know if rats cause lots of allergies?
BTW I already have the rats and live about an 8 hour drive away and will be moving directly in, so her coming to visit the rats to see how she reacts is not an option right now or she would. Thanks!
