How can you get a cat with when you have an allergy?

You can get a series of shots over several years that will give you immunity.
I’m allergic and I had cats growing up. I loved them, but I was always sick.

well, either you could get allergy pills/shots from a doctor or get a hairless cat (not too cute in my opinion)

Well you could always get a hairless cat, or a cat that is hypo-allergenic (virtually). Or cats that don’t loose their hair too much. Or you could always get the cat you favour anyway or borrow a cat and if you live and take care of it for long enough you may get through and loose your allergy.

i am alergic to cats and ihave 6 i am not as alergic as my mom but try zertec of something and get something from the doctor

Some people grow sort of “immune” to their allergies, or do fine if they take a simple allergy pill like Claritin. There are also air purifiers to reduce allergens. It depends on how allergic the person is. Also, longer hair means cats shed in clumps, and therefore aggrevate allergies less (in my experience anyway). There are ways to have cats if you have allergies. =) Not everyone is up to this though.

go on google and type in “hypoallergenic cat breeds” and you’ll have a list of breeds that should be ok for people with allergies. you could also take zyrtec, which is an allergy medication formulated for pet allergies. just keep in mind that everyone is different and some people may still be allergic even if the cat is considered hypoallergenic. you gotta vacuum alot and keep the kitty litter box clean, that should cut down on allergies too. good luck!

Well.. you could always shave all its hair off.
Though it is actually the saliva of a cat that people are allergic too, it is because of the way cats bathe themselves with their tongue that contaminates their hair with the allergen..

First, there is no such thing as a totally hypoallergenic cat. Some breeds produce less of the enzyme that causes allergies, though. Siamese and Abyssinians are good.
You can take over the counter allergy medicine. If that doesn’t work, talk to your doctor about prescription strength meds. You can also take a series of shots to reduce the allergic response. Vacuum everyday to reduce dander and hair.

People think it is the hair on animals that cause allergies, well really it isn’t it is the dander and even hairless varieties of animals produce dander.
And hairless cats and dogs just don’t seem right.

You can either by medicine for your allergies like claritin clear(ask your doctor which one would be right for you) or get a cat that does not shed a lot or a cat that has no fur.

My friend has a cat even though she’s allergic. I know that she took allergy medicine and got shots from her doctor every once in a while. Sorry, that’s all I know.

Go to your doctor and they can give you medicine or you can get a Sphinx breed of cat. Most breeders that have them for adoption are expensive so I would recommend looking into a specific breed rescue shelter where it would cost very little to adopt.

i’m allergic to cats also, but i have two cats. my eyes were really watery and red at first, but then my body started to get used to them and now, my cats sit on my face but i’m okay. but i’m still get allergies when i’m around cats i’m used to. i just know that alot of people are allergic to the dandruff cats have in their coat. so, lots of baths help. but the best way to know what kind of cats cause less allergies, is to ask people working at animal shelters or stores like petsmart.
