Princess M. asked:

i’m wondering because i want a pet that I can have without triggering my mom’s allergies.I don’t want a fish, frog, snake,or turtle(lizards as well).Because I want a pet like a dog or cat to play with and take care of.If you know of any breeds list them.
thanks-

    poodles are good for allergies

Many people with pet allergies are not allergic to hedgehogs, as they primarily have quills (they only have fur on their underside).

A bird could also be a good choice. Many birds are very smart and affectionate.

There’s no such thing as a ‘hypo-allergenic’ dog,but there are breeds of dogs that are less likely to trigger allergies, depending upon whether she is allergic to the dander in the animal’s coat?Which is mostly likely the case. Here’s a list of dogs less likely to trigger allergies as registerable by the AKC:

All I can think of Is a bird. They’re fun and loyal.

Umm, apart from that I have no idea.

my mom is allergic to anything with fur, but we have a poodle….we think he’s perfect! They love to cuddle and be held and they’re the perfect size too. the perfect comfort dog! They also dont shed so they’re less likely to make your mom sick. My mom was also looking at a Hairless cat? i dont know what they are, but they’re pretty creepy looking and pretty expensive. but yes poodles are GREAT!

They actually sell hypo-allergenic dogs & cats for a hefty price at this website:

The ‘Sphynx’ breed of cat is hairless, you could look for a breeder in your area. They are a few hundred dollars usually, to give you an estimate price-wise.

    BUTTTTT..
since most people can’t afford that..
I suggest you visit your local animal shelter for a dog or cat with very short, little, or no hair. They exist, and might be tolerable for you mother.

    Hope that helped.

Maltese are non shedding and only have a single coat. They don’t trigger most peoples allergies. They are also wonderful companions! You should look into them. I used to have 5 and there was more of my hair around the house than theirs!
