Can I have asthma with normal oxygen levels and normal chest xray?

I wake in the morning with chest tightness/pressure and feeling short of breath. These symptoms last for a couple of hours after i wake up. I have complained of these symptoms to my doctor so she ordered a chest xray, stress test and took my blood oxygen levels. All came back normal. But I would like a Pulmonary Function Test because I still feel I have some respiratory issues. If I had asthma or COPD would it show on a chest xray?

the chest x-ray would show hyperinflation of the lungs while you were having an asthma attack

Yes, O2 sats and Chest xray are not diagnostic for asthma, you need a stress test and pulmonary function test(s) for that diagnosis. See a pulmonologist. Asthma is a disease characterized by three things:

    1) inflammation of the bronchioles
    2) Constriction of the muscles surrounding the bronchi
    3) Mucous secretion into the bronchi tissue

You do need the spirometry tests to determine wether you have asthma or not. Asthma and COPD do not really show on xray
