I have always had asthma that is agrivated when I get sick. Well yesterday I went to the doctor because I was certain I had pneumonia. However, the doctor told me that it is my asthma and it was triggered by allergies.

I never want to feel this way again, especially without infection. Does anyone know a good way to manage allergies and asthma without using drugs that make you tired (benedryl) or have horrible side effects (prednisone)?
Thank you all.

Try Zyrtec - I am allergic is anything that blooms, most animals with fur, dust, dust mites….the list goes on and on! My asthma, which has been dormant for 15 years, popped back up a few months ago due to allergies. Don’t use Zyrtec-D - I have not had positive experiences with that.
Also, try using Singulair. It is for both allergies and asthma and you take it at night. Try NeilMed’s Sinus Rinse. It’s over-the-counter and is at any drugstore. It feel weird to do, but it flushes out your sinuses which means it flushes out the allergens. Also, for the asthma, you may consider something like Broncaid or and inhaler as a short term solution.
Also, examine your surroundings. Have you moved? Have you aquired a new pet or have you been around a new pet? When was the last time the filter on your HVAC system was changed? Use a specific allergen-filter to help.
Good luck - I know exactly how you feel!

use hayfever medication like clarantyne(non drowsy) when your asthma is bad because of wattle on trees or plants that trigger it,take your regular medication with it, safe to use both
take panadol if you suffer with pain across your back shoulders and arm(another nasty side effect from asthma) predinsone should only be used for 2 weeks in a row maxium time other wise your system will be to used to it and when you suffer a bad attack won’t work.
