My son was diagnosed with a milk allergy and he is currently on Nutramigen formula. I was wondering how long it takes for this formula to work. The allergy caused my son tummy problems and he is still having them. TIA

How long has he been on the formula would be helpful. Have you tried asking his pediatrician. That’s your best bet. You don’t want to delay anything that has to do with your baby’s health.
My daughter was allergic to milk also and was put on isomil formula. Then, when she went off her formula she had to drink soy milk. We were lucky though. She outgrew it at about age 3 or so and now gets to enjoy all the goodies that have milk in them.

My son had a milk allergy. I put him on Infamil Soy. He was on that formula from 2 months till 8 months and then he started spitting up alot and i was sick of cleaning up spit up so i gave him a bottle of 3.25% cow’s milk and he never spit up again. He is now 11 1/2 months and hasnt spit up sence he has been on the cow’s milk! good luck !

I was a baby who was allergic to milk as well. I am now in my early 50’s and I no longer have an allergy but, am lactose intolerant!! Your son may well outgrow this allergy; however, he may never do well with dairy products as I have never been able to freely eat anything dairy! As an infant, they chose to put me on soy. I have not heard of the formula you mentioned in your question. However, if your son is still having problems, I would take him back to the doctor and have him to consider another choice! Stomach discomfort from this IS very uncomfortable and noone likes being nauseated! Your son may not be able to tell you how he is feeling but, I can sure tell you from my experience and if he is having symptoms, then please get him back so that you all can find something nutritonal and tolerable for him. I wish you and him the best!

My son is nearly 8 and is allergic to milk proteins. If they don’t outgrow it by 5 or 6, they never will. You are giving your baby the best formula (better than milk or soy.) It is so expensive. One of mine was on that (thankfully I could breastfeed until we knew she wasn’t allergic.) Good luck, this may be a life long, expensive battle. Mom of 3 - (2 had the allergy, one out grew it at 3 yrs.)

Typically, you should see a difference in 24-48 hours. If you do not see a difference you should talk to your doctor. My daughter was on Nutramigen for about a month and she did seem to get a little better but it still was not doing the trick. We then tried Similac Alimentum RTF (ready to feed) and that is the only thing she has been able to tolerate and she does wonderful on it! She is a different baby! Our doctor said that you just have to try them both a lot of times to see which one works best for your child. It is very expensive but it is so worth it to see my baby out of pain. Before, I was breast-feeding her and she would scream in pain non-stop all day long. The only break we would get was at night because she would sleep all night (only bacause she tired herself out from screaming all day). You may want to try the Alimentum if you continue to see no improvement. Maybe this will help you. Good luck- I remember those days!
