Are people who are allergic to cats and dogs usually allergic to rabbits?

I really want a rabbit, I know how to take care of them and all, but my cousin and my aunt are allergic to cats and dogs and I want to know if the rabbit would be a hazard to their health.

You might or might not be allergic to the rabbit. Your doctor can give you a test to see what you are allergic to.

some people are just alergic to cats and dogs. some however are alergic to all animal hair and feathers. if you get a rabbit with short hair then it wont be as bad. depends on how intense the allergy symptoms get.

Possibly. it depends on the person. if they have many allergies I would bag the Bunny idea.

Make the allergies test in a blood testing lab (I don’t know how you say it in English) and you will get a list with all the alergies you have…

I’m allegic to cats as well as rabbits, and guinea pigs. I have slight allergy to dogs, but have a dog. I can’t say for sure, but something seems to be commmon for me with the animals I’m allergic to.

No, i don’t think so, but if your allergic to a very furry cat/dog/kitten/puppy and your rabbit is very furry then you might be allergic to rabbits.

When folks have pet allergies it is to the protien in the animal’s saliva - this is deposited on the fur as they groom, and why most folks think it is a dander or fur issue.
That said, I am violently allergic to cats and rabbits, but not to dogs…
The only way to be sure would be to visit the SPCA or simillar organization and have them play with the rabbits. Plus, this is the ideal place to get one for a pet. If rabbits do not work out, perhaps a guinea pig would?

Allergies can vary a great deal. I’d recommend visiting some rabbits and see how they do. Or you might also want to visit an allergist.
Another thing to consider is that people can be allergic to hay, since rabbits eat a lot of hay, you may want to get your relatives tested for both rabbits AND hay.
