Is it normal to be tired during allergy season?

I have seasonal ragweed allergies…I do not take anything for it, as the OTC medicines seem to really drag me down. Just wondering if the allergy itself will actually cause one to be fatigues and tired all the time.

Definitely! When ever your body is putting extra effort into anything (like fighting allergies) it can wear on your body. I have had great results with OTC Claritin, and I’m pretty sensitive to anything that can make you tired. Have you tried?

Uncontrolled allergies can make you fatigued and sleepy, as well as affect your ability to concentrate.
Unfortunately, allergy meds can also have that effect, even the non-drowsy kinds. Allegra & Claritin are the best non-drowsy allergy meds, but some people still have drowsy problems with them. You can only try them and see.
Sometimes it just boils down to a choice between sleepy or sleepy and which cause of the sleepy you’d rather endure.
If your allergy reactions are causing a lot of runny nose, stuffiness, sinus infections, ear infections.. it may be preferable to be a little drug-drowsy and not sneezing on everyone (or not having a sinus pressure headache), to being sneezy, or headachy and more awake.
