What are the foods to watch out for because of allergies?

Hanna’s Mommie asked:
Can anyone give me a list of foods that a child SHOULD NOT eat before the age 1 or 2 because of allergies.. For some reason the only one that comes to mind is peanuts and eggs…. can anyone give me a list of no no’s?

If your child doesn’t have allergies, then why watch out for them, and how do you know until your child has tried them. or is this a just in case? then leave all dairy products alone, any form of food colourings, fish, washing powder, conditioner, soap, the list is endless.
come on! your giving your child problems before he/she is even one.
just my opinion

My son was eating Eggs way before he was 1 year old.
The only thing that we noticed he had any kind of allergic reaction to was Gerber Strawberries and Bananas. (It was the strawberries because with plain bananas they didn’t do anything to him.)

There’s some basic info here:
I’ve read that experts are now recommending that parents wait until their kids are at least two to give them anything with peanuts because the longer they go without it, the less likely they are to become allergic.
Remember that a person can eat something every day for years and then BAM one day they’re allergic. It happens.

Some foods are not suitable for babies under 12 months. These include:
Honey - there is a potential risk of bacterial infection from honey.
Tea - contains tannins that can restrict vitamin uptake.
Whole nuts - should be avoided due to the risk of choking. If there is no food allergy in your family, nut pastes can be used after 12 months.
Fruit juice - contains no nutritional benefit and can reduce the amount of milk consumed.
Reduced fat milk - not suitable for children under two.
Eggs
here is a good site on feeding/food/ etc…
