Ask her what she would like to see from you, ie. responsibility etc, or is the issue simply your brother and the smell of cages? If that is the case I would look into a bird, I had a cockatiel that was amazing. He would fly to me, do tricks, snuggle. Also, there are hypo-allergetic dogs.

If all else fails and you really just want to be with animals, volunteer at a humane society. Good luck!

I replied to another person who’s dad didn’t want him to get a dog, he used my method, and is now getting a dog so I am pretty sure I will be able to help you to. Let’s start with number one. Your brother is allergic. My dad is allergic so I know this drill. Tell your brother that after about a year or so with the pet, he will get accustomed to it and his allergies will go away. This happens with all people that have allergies to pets. They are still allergic to all other pets, but their body grows accustomed to that one pet so after a while he will have no problem with it. However, until his body adapts, he must wash his hands every time he touches the animal. So that takes care of that one. Number two. There’s no room. This is a simple one. Get a smaller dog. I personally don’t like Chihuahua’s but they don’t have to be THAT small. You could get a yorkie, a cocker spaniel; any one of the smaller breeds. To them your yard will look big enough! Or if you want something like a bunny, a small yard is good because they are really fast and can get away quickly. You can also keep a bunny in a well furnished cage. And you can always have an inside cat if you are okay with cleaning the litter box a lot. Birds don’t really cause commotion except noisy ones. However the downside to having a small yard is that you will probably have to take the dog (if you get a dog) on more walks and outings to the park and stuff. Next. Your mom hates the smell of hamsters. If you get a hamster you can keep it in your room only and when your mom comes in you can spray some febreeze stuff around the room ( but not at the hamster) so she doesn’t have to smell it. Well I think I’ve covered everything. Hope this helps! Good luck with the pet.
